Front Porch Friday: 3 Ways to Balance Your Life

How do you balance God, husband, kids, career, church, etc., etc., etc? Even if you’re a phenomenal multi-tasker, balancing a busy life is tough.

If you long for a balanced life, then come on over and sit on the porch with me, and I’ll share 3 things you can do TODAY to balance your life (I’ll even tell you what the #1 Myth About Balancing Life is). See you on the porch!

Your sister (and balance beam coach),

What practical things do you do to keep your life balanced? What would you add to my 3 Ways to Balance Your Life list? Thanks for sharing and encouraging others!

The Lord has shown me something really cool about “balancing” life.
A lot of people have a linear vision of priorities:
    1 – God
    2 – Family
    3 – all else

When we look at it like that, everything is separate, a “checklist” of sorts to mark off the time that we spent with each area. Each area separated from the others.

What the Lord showed me was a totally different vision of priorities that makes more sense (even for a blonde like me!!! 🙂 )

    Here’s what it looks like.
    God ALWAYS in EVERYTHING!
Family MOST of the time in MOST things!
Everything else, where the Lord allows it to fit.

See the difference? This way God is overlapping each and every area of our lives – not a separate “item” to “check off” of our “to do” list.

I have found that when I keep these priorities in this perspective, “balancing” isn’t just “do-able” – it’s always there!

In Christ’s love and service always,

Still struggling after years of walking with my Lord to achieve this balance in my life. Thanks for another clear message of how to achieve it. Now to “seek Him first.” Thanks Laurie for this series which has ministered to me so much this summer,

I wake up every morning…lay there for a short….then start praying for my day. One of the reasons is….I saw a quote from a very wise women & it said, ” A day hemmed in prayer seldom comes unraveled”. I LIKE that for sure! And then the other quote I saw was one of satan saying, “Utoh…she’s awake!” Now I know those aren’t His words BUt I’ve found when I start speaking His name…..& seeking His Word….the devils gotta FLEE! And I can handle that. So, I start the day out by trying my best to, “Walk in a manner Worthy of the Lord….Col. 1:10 ONE day at a time…………….

As I lay out, a week or two in advance, (& as most of us do), for “MY” plans I’ve come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t ALWAYS pan out. One phone call can change a day. I started getting really frustrated & it was then that I really did start “””practicing””” the above comment that I posted. It took me quite a long time to get comfortable with it but truly, now, when the “phone” rings, I can say, “Lord will you answer that for me?” And, “”””most times””””, He does! Thank You Lord. 😉
