Miley Cyrus & Foolish Woman #6

Foolish womanThanks to Miley Cyrus, many of us learned a new word this week: twerking. But Miley did far more than just define it. She demonstrated it before thousands of people attending the MTV VMAs and millions more watching on TV. When asked about her explicit new style of performing, Miley replied:

“It’s called puberty. Everyone’s done it from the beginning of time.I’m just doing it, so you’re zooming in on it and you’re fascinated by it.” Miley Cyrus

Who knew twerking was just a natural part of the puberty process?

There is, however, one thing even more shocking than Miley’s performance this week. I’ll tell you what that is and I’ll share the 3-step process to becoming Foolish Woman #6 as we continue our series You Might Be A Foolish Woman If on today’s Front Porch Friday. See you on the porch!

Your sister,

LaurieSig

Have you ever been pressured to “sit down” when you stood up for  the truth? How has the Lord encouraged you today? Thanks so much for sharing!

P. S. Please know my heart. I’m praying for Miley, and I’m trusting you are, too.

I think we should pray for Miley. I have acted like a foolish woman many times. All fall short. Consider it a call to action. A call to pray! I think we know it was “Inappropriate” we shouldn’t look down on anyone unless we are helping them up!

Amen, Amber, to everything in your comment. I couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks for the wisdom, mercy, and balance you’ve brought to the porch today. Blessings to you!

I agree, I as well have acted foolish in my life and had my downfalls..but it’s what we learn from it and act on it that needs prayer and work on our part. I pray for Miley, and I agree with what Amber says: We shouldn’t look down on anyone unless we are helping them up.”

I thought I must be the only person alive who did not know what that word meant, and I certainly wouldn’t have identified what she was doing with a word I had never heard before, but I can call it repulsive. I believe also that we must be disgusted at the man’s behavior as well. I saw the report on the news, but not on the show where she appeared. I, too, am glad of the public outcry against what she did. How demeaning to herself and other young girls. I remember 50+ years ago when a young male singer came on the scene and first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show with his wonderful music, but crude gyrations, that my Daddy turned the T.V. off and none of his children were allowed to watch him perform. I praise God every day for a mother and father who instilled in their children from the very beginning of their lives what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior. I know that not everyone has grown up with this privilege. I pray that there will be someone Miley Cyrus will come in contact with who can help her learn how to become a lady, pleasing in God’s sight, and that she will use her talent for God’s glory in her performances. God expects so much more of her than she is exhibiting, and she deserves so much more than she is receiving for herself with this type behavior. I pray God’s blessings on her. He intended good for her, and from her, and it’s not too late for her to receive it. She may call it artistic license, but I believe God calls it very foolish behavior.

Yes, we need to pray for Miley. We all do something we regret later in life. But we DO NOT go on national television and do repulsive acts. Yes, we need to forgive her. But what do you say about the producers, and the channel who televised it? She did a very foolish thing. But I put most of the blame on those who allowed it to be shown all over the world. This is more than puberty if she purposely did on what she knew was televised. She did it for the shock she knew it would send. Wonder if it shocked her that most people were sickened by her actions.

As we’ve watched innocence, time & time again, turn down the wrong roads in & on the “”Hollywood”” scene & in our everyday lives the same truths rise to the surface. We can choose to glorify God OR give into satan. That sounds hard but everyday we have decisions to make. There really aren’t any excuses, it’s free will of choice. And every single one of us have made wrong chices, some lots worse than others. The big thing here is the enormous amount of young lives she’s already touched. But again this can be used to draw them to Gods right way of doing things. We have some Tweens, in our family, coming up & you can be sure we’ll be talking about ALL the things Miley could be doing. Unfortunately there’s way too many families today that won’t sit down & talk with their young people. Which is where we come in …..to pray for them, talk to them, given the chance & Laurie….it’s what your ministry was made for…..& we, being the extension of your ministry, will keep doing our part to reach out & touch, with love & compassion, these young girls that are looking for love in all the wrong places.
And, in answer to your question, “Yes. I’ve been pressured, most all my life, to sit down & “”hush””. But God hasn’t given me a spirit of fear OR faint hardness. 2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power & love & self control.
He’s given me a courageous spirit & I thank Him for it every day. My prayer is that I use the courage with the wisdom I’ve learned & strive for more all the time. To speak out in truth but in love. I sure don’t always get it right & have, in fact, put thy foot in thy mouth. ;-0) but I’ve watched prayers be answered as I’ve prayed my words to be understood by open hearts….hope y’all have a restful weekend….you sis in Christ. Luv ya.

Laurie, what are the differences you see in this foolish woman and foolish woman #1, who knows the truth but ignores it?

I believe that we all need more of these “Truth” word spreading thru our youth generation, Timothy does say the older teach’s the younger, our youth need more of what is real and what the word teach’s ! Our babies have so much to overcome already with the TV fab’s but we as parents , Grandparents, NEED to remind our babies they are the next generation of leaders, we will reap a harvest in due season. Keep going Priority Ministry !

Dear Laurie, I appreciate your obvious dedication in serving God with your teaching gifts and knowledge of His Word. Therefore, it is my hope that you will not perceive me as disrespectful in my following observation:In this post, you inserted the use of the expression, “OK?” more than a dozen times. I have noticed that same pattern in other posts, as well. For me, anyway, that presents a distracting dilution from the strength of your message and injects somewhat of a patronizing tone, which I am sure you do not intend. This is just my opinion, of course. Blessings to you-CLC

Thank you, Carolyn, for letting me know about something I was completely unaware of. I appreciate your kind, constructive spirit, and I will do my best to heed it in future posts. Blessings to you.
