6 Scriptural Prayers To Pray Over Your Husband

6 prayers husbandThere is no better way to see God move in your marriage than to pray for your husband. When you invite the Holy Spirit into the middle of your day to day messes and lay down your desires for God’s, something beautiful happens. Praying for your husband will stir up a love in your heart for him beyond any amount of romance. The more we pray scripture over our husbands we begin to see them as God’s dearly loved sons, created for a purpose, bought by the blood of Jesus and deserving of our respect simply for those reasons.

If your marriage is going great right now- know that the enemy did not forget about your husband and he has his own agenda to pull him away from obedience to God. Are you fighting for his protection in prayer or waiting till a crisis comes? James 5:16 tells us to “pray for one another”. You know your husbands strengths and weaknesses like no one else – you can pray for him like no one else.

If your marriage is on the brink of disaster and you are holding on by a thread – know that’s it’s not too late. Our God is big and loves to do miracles in the last hour. Make praying for your husband a priority and watch how the Lord can rekindle your love for your man.

I hope these 6  scriptural prayers will be a springboard for a new lifelong habit of praying for your husband. Simply fill in the blanks with your husband’s name as you pray.

 1.

Father,

I pray today that you would fill _____  with your joy. I thank you that you have given him your word and I pray that he would cling to it, not the things of this world. Protect him and keep him from the evil one. Continue to sanctify _____  in your truth. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to pay the price for my husband and open the doors of eternity to him. Remind _____  of your great work on the cross on his behalf and lead his heart to gratitude. Let him be unified with Christ so that others may see his life and believe also. (John 17:13-21)

 2.

Dear God,

Pour out your blessings on _____ . Lead his heart that he would not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. Let my husband’s delight be in the law of the Lord. I pray that he would meditate on it day and night. Let him be like a tree planted by your life-giving streams of water. Let his life produce good fruit for your kingdom. I pray that he would remain strong and connected to you Jesus and would not wither. By your grace, let whatever _____  does prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)

 3.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I pray that _____  would not store up treasure here on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. Let him store up treasures in heaven that can never be taken away. I pray that where his treasure is, his heart would be also.(Matthew 6:1-21) Remove any falsehood or lying from his lips. Give _____  neither poverty or riches, but only that which is needful for him so that he would neither be too full and deny you, or be poor and steal and profane the name of God.(Proverbs 30:8-9)

 4.

Dear God,

Grant strength and courage to my husband. Help him to be careful to obey all the laws that you gave to Moses. I pray that he would not turn from your words, but would find success wherever he goes. (Joshua 1:7) Hold fast to his heart that _____ would have no other gods before you. Keep him from making any idols in his life and bowing down to them or worshiping them. (Deut. 5:7-8) Let _____  love the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul and with all his strength. And stir his heart that he would love his neighbor as himself (Mark 12:30)

 5.

Father,

Thank you for your hands that made _____ and formed him. Give him understanding to learn your commands and continue to open his eyes that he may see the wonderful things in your law. (Psalm 110:18, 73) Let him be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. Rid him of the things that do not bring about the righteous life that you desire for him God. Let him humbly accept the word that has been planted in him. (James 1:19-21)  Fill him with your Holy Spirit as his helper, to teach him all things and bring to his remembrance the word of God. (John 14:26)

6.

Dear God,

Thank you for your love for _____ . Fill him with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Let him walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. Let his life be fully pleasing to you, bearing fruit in every good work and always increasing in the knowledge of God. May _____  be strengthened with all power, according to your glorious might. Give him endurance, patience and joy as he seeks you. Let him give thanks to you God, who has made a way for him to share in your inheritance. Thank you for your work of redemption and forgiveness in my husband’s life. (Colossians 1:9-14)

I L O V E this!!!!!!! And it is true to the very last word.
It’s very, very hard for the enemy to be in the midst of your day
When you’re staying in constant breath prayers for your hubby.
It also causes satan to flee when you do get angry but don’t give into it
Because you’ve gone to prayer instead.
    Great words of advice!!!!

Hello Sister. Peace to you. Can you please pray for my husband Hany Almadhy in Egypt, to receive Christ in his life from the spirit of Islam. That attacking spirits of oppression be cast out. Anger, jealousy, Witchcraft, suicide and all connecting spirits. For our marriage. Prayer list in Church. Thank you Clarissa Reed

I will pray for you. My husband has been looking at other women after 38 yrs. of marriage .I confronted him and he said that he would would stop .He also looks at old cars on his phone all the time and these pictures of women exercising half nude always pop up . I also confronted him about that because he recieved a text from this website with a women exercising with her legs wide open. He told me that he would also stop looking at those kind of things as well. So please pray for me .I know that we have the victory over this and anything else In Jesus name! God does answer our prayers especially when bringing Him His Word !

Laurie,I was informed by my sister’s today that my daughter, son and my niece who is her daughter are offended by our discussions about the Lord. She said it was too much. Keep in mind that I only see them about once or twice a year. We talk on the phone. I send them scripture every day and tell them to have a blessed day and I love them. Last week we were together, and my sister and I talked with my daughter, but she’s also a Christian. There are a lot of events coming up,please pray that God will help me to not act different. I want to walk in love inspite of this. I am asking God to help my sister and I to get over it and to keep our mouths closed.

Please pray for my husband and me. With the exception of a financial struggle, we have a great marriage. My husband grew up in the church, but turned to another practice before I met and married him. Conversations about the Lord can get tense and I am very concerned about our salvation. I really want to get into Heaven and I pray the Lord touches my husband’s heart and opens it so he can receive Him and love Him.

Sara, There is a great book called “Case for Christ” that might help answer some of his questions about Jesus. It’s written by Lee Strobel. A movie was made from the book and it’s currently on Netflix – same name – Case for Christ. It might encourage you also as it shows the wife’s journey besides her unbelieving husband. I am standing with you in prayer for his salvation.
