Conflict: 4Rs for Growing Stronger

Conflict: 4Rs for Growing Stronger

If you hate conflict as much as I do, then you might be surprised to find out how it has affected my marriage.

I’ll tell you all about  it today as we continue our Front Porch Friday series, STRONGER: 7 Struggles That Will Make You Stronger. Discover four things you can do to grow stronger through conflict — even if you’re struggling with it in your marriage and other relationships. See you on the porch!

Your sister,

LaurieSigAre you experiencing conflict in any of your relationships? Please let me know how the Lord encouraged you today!

    Laurie,
We did a Bible study by Martha Peace,The Excellent Wife, A Biblical Respective, this past year (Mothering Matters). She has a chapter on
“conflict” that says exactly what you are teaching. After 53 years of marriage, I have learned how we can make our marriage stronger when we experience conflict. It has made our marriage so much better and i was amazed. Thank you for speaking on this. I know it has encouraged many.
Always praying for you and Priority Ministries.

53 years! WOW and PTL! Thank you, Mary, for affirming that God really can use conflict in a positive way when we cooperate with Him. And thanks, too, for pouring your life and your wisdom into the lives of the younger women in Mothering Matters. How I thank the Lord for you. Love you!

Oh My Goodness! This was a blessing for me and right on time! I am the Women’s leader at my church and my team has been experiencing conflict that does not seem to want to go away. I have been praying and praying to know how to overcome this and your message was perfect! I listened and took notes on my lunch hour today, but will go home tonight and really read the scriptures you referenced. Thank you so much for helping me to find peace in this situation!

    Blessings!

Thanks so much for sharing, Traci. I’m sorry to hear about the conflict within your WM team, but I’m so grateful for the way you’re seeking the Lord through it, and I’m especially thankful for the way HE IS ANSWERING. Know of my prayers for you and your team. How I pray that they will follow your lead and allow the Lord to use this conflict to make them and the WM stronger. Love to you, dear sister!

    Hi Laurie,
Thanks for this series, it is just what I need right now. I am raising two teenage boys. What a challenge! My younger son and I seem to only speak in conflict and it breaks my heart. He doesn’t understand the things I do are for his best interest, he thinks I sit around thinking of ways to bother him…I will read these scripture verses and pray with all my heart that somehow we can resolve the constant conflict between him and me.

Thank you for your video. Conflict has been following me everywhere for about 9 years now; about the time I came back to my relationship with Jesus. I am so distraught about it as I am a feisty person to begin with, but I have tempered it drastically over the years. Most recently and, also quite harmless, really, but has set me on the wrong foot: a woman in a new church we’re going to was introduced to me and my son’s name was mentioned – she replied that that name is in the running for their second child. We talked further just about life in general and then her husband joined the conversation. I asked, “when are you due?” he seemed confused and said “due?”. I quickly backtracked and was so embarrassed as I thought she was pregnant and explained the initial conversation in why I thought that – we switched back to more small talk before we said good-bye. I left church feeling so deflated and terrible for making an assumption and then trying to explain myself out of it. I text my friend who knows her and was telling her how awful I felt when she said, “She IS pregnant and it’s quite obvious! We just had her sprinkle yesterday!” WHAT? I saw her a few days later wearing a completely different outfit with a big pregnant belly. Why would someone leave a conversation making me backtrack and feel awful and never right the conversation. I am angry! I don’t want to befriend this person at all. I want to avoid. I am confused and it makes me want to back away from church as well at the same time. I know my heart. I know the kind and gracious heart that I constantly keep in check and I am in constant battle with the enemy. I’m tired and worn! I have so much to give, but I keep getting thwarted with conflict. This was a silly scenario but no desire to pursue this relationship, and yet, we attend a small church. I just ordered 3 Christian books on Conflict.
