Front Porch Friday: How to Start a Home Bible Study Intro

Today we’re tackling a question that took TWO women to answer AND, I’m thrilled to say, is launching a new Front Porch Friday series: How to Start a Home Bible Study.

Have you ever thought about starting a Bible study in your home but then thought, “Yikes! How could I ever do it? I wouldn’t know where to start.” Girl, if that’s you, then today’s YOUR day on Front Porch Friday!

Ever started or wanted to start a Bible study in your home? Ever participated in a home Bible study? As we begin this new Front Porch Friday series, I sure would love to hear your wisdom, your stories, and your comments!

Your sister,

P. S. Hugs to all of you who sent me so many great questions during our “Ask Laurie” series. If I didn’t get to answer your question on Front Porch Friday, please know that I’m saving every question I received and hoping to resume the series in the future. Thank and God bless you, precious sister, for sharing your heartfelt questions with me!

I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say on this topic, but I can’t help but wonder why not go ahead and address it now. It seems too important to draw it out that long or wait another week to even get started, imho.

I know what you mean, I hear what you’re saying, and I’m SO happy you’re excited about this new series. Wish we could give you everything all at once . . . but we can’t. However, when the series is finished, we’ll keep the entire 5-part “How to Start a Home Bible Study” series posted here on the blog so future glo girls (like you) who want to start home Bible studies can watch the entire series in one sitting. Thanks for your patience, sister. Hope you’ll stay tuned.

A women and I attended the same church but we didnt have a strong women’s group as there was never much interest. We started one out of her home. We asked women at the church if they wanted to join as well as put flyers around the neighborhood. Two people from the neighborhood came and seven from church came plus two young teenagers. We have been going strong for almost two years. We named our group Women of Purpose and we do projects for the community as well as the bible study. We have done Beauty by the Book, Angela Thomas, Jennifer Rothschild and Beth Moore. We have had lecture series as well on the Three T’s Thessaloniasn, Timothy and Titus. We continue to be blessed in our group and it is a great strength for all of us sisters. We rely on each other and pray for each other. One of our motto’s is “What happens at Ladies Bible Study, Stays at Ladies Bible Study” We had our first annual tea last October and are planning a Tea this October to celebrate our 2nd year. God has blessed our group and we have been through alot but I believe that we are on the right track and will continue to grow spiritually. So every Thursday night we come together for coffee and snacks, then we go through our prayer lists, encourage each other, discuss the prior video, watch the new video and end with prayer. There are times that we stop everything that we are doing and will hold hands and pray. We all rejoice because we have this group and we still invite others to join us. I continually look for new studies and activities. I hope to see new ideas in these sessions. God bless you. your sister in Christ

Great! From the moment we moved into this home we’re in I felt this huge desire to give God glory & praise by having fellowship in it with my church family. And, just in this year, have I really had a yearning to do a bible study. So, much thanks to y’all & I’m really looking forward to this new series!!
