Get Down Glo Girl Week 6: Lost 4/Gained MORE

Whoo-hoo! I’m celebrating today, girl, because we’re halfway through our Get Down Glo Girl journey! Five weeks ago, many of you joined this weight-loss accountability group with me, and it’s been both glorious and humbling travelling this road with you.

Today, at halfway, I have lost a grand total of 4 pounds! Yes, I know that may not sound like much. And yes, I wish it was 8 or 10 instead of 4. But honestly, I am very happy with 4. Why? Because today, I am choosing to focus more on what I’ve gained than what I’ve lost:

  • I’ve gained more energy, and I feel so much better.
  • I’ve gained greater comfort in my clothes – they’re not as tight.
  • I’ve gained muscle tone, and I’m less mushy around my middle.
  • I’ve gained a healthier cardio system. Today, I can work out on the elliptical for 25-35 minutes straight. Five weeks ago, I could only do a few minutes at a time.
  • I’ve gained renewed self-control, the beautiful fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • I’ve gained freedom from being a slave to my flesh.

Thus, today I choose to say: Glory to God, the Giver of every good gain!

It’s halfway, Get Down Glo Girls, and perhaps you’re like me: you wish you’d lost a little more weight by now, but it’s just not coming off as fast as you thought it would.

Do not be discouraged.

Do not despair.

Choose to focus, instead, on what you’ve gained, and give God glory. And speaking of “gains” . . .

I would LOVE to hear about any “gains” you’ve made in our Get Down Glo Girl journey, so please post them, okay? You will encourage me and many of your glo girl sisters.

As we begin the second half of our journey together, grab on to this power-packed nugget of truth with me:

“The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.” Romans 8:26 NLT

The Holy Spirit of God resides within you. Yes, you. And He has promised – promised – to help you. You are not alone. You are not defeated either. Because of the indwelling power and presence of the Holy Spirit, you have everything you need to continue this lose-weight-gain-more journey for His glory.

So, even if you’ve fallen a little behind . . .

Even if you’ve gotten a little discouraged . . .

Even if you’re 5 weeks in, but you’re still not where you want to be . . .

Today, if you’re ready to move forward in this Get Down Glo Girl journey with me, post a comment (even if it’s been a while), and simply say, “I’m in.”

Or, “I’m still in.”

Or maybe even, “I’m in again.”

Can’t wait to hear from you!

In with you, your Get Down Glo Girl sister,

Are you in? Let me hear from you! Noticed any “gains?” Please share!

P. S. So sorry, but I do not have a food list to give you this week. Last week was wild and wooly (super good but super busy), and I just couldn’t keep up with my list. I’ll have one for you next week. Thanks for your grace!

No weight loss this week. However, no weight gain either. Yippie!! I too feel more comfy in my clothes, and I can see the difference as well. This tells me that it was true weight loss, not just water loss. Praying I’ll be just as successful the next few weeks. Looking forward to the challenge. Laurie, just a thought – shouldn’t we hold each other accountable through the holiday’s? ; )

Ughhhhh…….can’t exercise while in vehicle. It’s just NOT safe!! 😉 However. I am trying to eat lots of varied veggies & 30% on the meat, protien end of it. Also eating lots of grapes, tomatos, raw carrots & select nuts. I may not be losing any weight but I have to admit my cheeks look a little rosier. ;0)
Should soon be done, soon, on “crazy” travel time & looking forward to some choir music & working out in the pool room!!! My 3 sources of equipment are a treadmill, a starionary bike & an ab-back, my favorite.
And then keeping in mind always, 2 Peter 1:4 Through Christ, we have every thing we need for life & godliness & the power to overcome sinful desires. And I am pretty sure that “Apple Fritters” could be considered sinful………..
