Monday Manna: Hebrews 12 vs. Caffeine

On your mark, get set, GO! That’s what most Mondays feel like to me – like the start of a race.

A race to accomplish everything on my to-do list at home.

A race to complete everything on my to-do list at work.

A race to plan meals, buy groceries, prepare meals, and clean up after meals.

A race to run errands, fight the traffic, and deal with all of those other drivers, too.

Seriously, when I think about everything I need to do this week . . . I feel tired already. Do Mondays ever make you feel that way? Can you relate? Girl, what we need is a little shot of energy.

No, not that kind.

No, not that either.

What we need is a shot of supernatural energy – the kind of energy that comes from God through His Word. Like this:

“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame.” Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT)

Another translation says it like this:

“Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.” Hebrews 12:2 (MSG)

It’s Monday, precious sister, and the race is on. But focusing on our to-do list, getting things done, and consuming massive amounts of vitamins and caffeine won’t help us cross the finish line God’s way.

There is only one way to run the race and finish well: by keeping our eyes on Jesus. So, let’s focus on Him and follow His example today and every day this week, and we’ll find all of the strength and inspiration we need to run. And run. And run. So, on your mark, get set, GO (and glo, too, of course)!

Running the race with you,

Good morning sweet lady……….I’m sitting here, just now, eating breakfast. And I’m laughing because, as I flipped my I-pad open, your post is the 1st thing I saw. And I’d JUST got finished asking grace & praying for my family, church family & friends. My prayers of request were for protection & safety, that we may EACH serve where He wants us to be, (a servants heart for each), understanding & His perfect peace to fill us up as we endeavor to do all. ALL…………Before I had breakfast this morning, I was out washing a horse, (my definition-mighty, awesome creation of God for US). And I was giving THANKS for answered prayer for “”””even””””” this horse. Well, no. I don’t normally pray for any of my animals but this past week I have. Suffice it to say, ” It’s a bit of a story”, & I’ll fill in the details when I see you. But, yes, God heard & answered my prayers for even this horse. And I’m a thanking Him & giving ALL praise for “”””one more thing to do”””” added to my list of TO DO.

Although Americans aren’t the world’s biggest per-capita caffeine fiends, we’re not exactly teetotalers. Research by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) has led these groups to consider 300 milligrams (about two cups of coffee) the upper limit of a moderate daily dose. But roughly 20 percent to 30 percent of Americans consume more than 600 milligrams — considered a high dose of the drug — on a typical day [source 1=”Kovacs” language=”:”][/source]. If you consume more than four cups of coffee a day, you’re probably among that number..

Good morning from way out in the country. ;-0). Well. I haven’t slowed down any since that post & as Randy & I were talking about our lifestyle, just last night, unless the Lord says otherwise we probably never will. But again, as I was nursing a “”2nd”” cup of coffee yesterday morning, (while waiting for 3 of our grand babies to wake up), I stood in front of the window looking out on Gods incredible creation & I prayed. With tears just streaming I thanked God & PRAISED Him with my heart & soul for where He’s brought me, (us-my family) ,to thus far. Then I asked for strength, courage, wisdom & grace to face any & all things that were coming our way in our near & far future. And you’re RIGHT…..there’s nothing in a bottle or cup or pill that can fill you up but, or like, His Word. Like warm honey His Word soothes the soul & then lifts you up with His power & grace. Phil. 4:13 I can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens me. Thank You Father God. ;-0)
And then, I’m off again as I went to make a round trip to get our little ones back to their parents in Houston.
Now……b-4 this post is finished, I’ve received a reminder I’m to babysit one of our 2 year olds THIS Friday, ( a contractor is scheduled to be here Friday too) & then so very, very sadly…….a small child has passed, a friend of close friends of my daughters & she needs me to keep her 2 little ones. I’m now sitting in my kitchen & as, again, tears spring to my eyes I look up & there, on my wall is this……..
The LORD is my STRENGTH & my SONG & a picture of a little old man, head bowed in prayer.
Randy’s already left this morning to go back to Houston, round trip, & I suspect he’ll have at least 2 two year olds in tow with him when he returns.
Please pray with me for the family of this little 6 year old who’s left this earth but is safe in the arms of Jesus. And pray for this mama’s empty arms as she struggles to see & understand Gods purpose & plans. But mostly that she will FEEL His Divine Presence & love seeping into her soul.
I am His humble servant &
    Your sister in Christ

A good blog and well thought out. It encourages me. Thank you for sharing. Here is a link to a print and color page for Hebrews 12:2, some people find it helps to memorize the scripture if they color in the words to the verse.
