What God is Teaching Me About Prayer: Part 3

woman praying Part 3

One of the things God is teaching me (and convicting me) about prayer is how often I pray, say, “Amen,” and that’s it. After amen, I’m ashamed to say that all too often I move on with little to no expectation that God will answer.

But God has been teaching me so much about prayer recently, and He is shaking up my prayer life. And as a result, He is reigniting my walk with Him.

Question: What do you do after amen? In today’s video, I’ll tell you what God’s teaching me (and, perhaps, wants to teach you) about what to do after amen.

What is God teaching you about prayer? How can I pray for you? Post a comment. Blessings to you!

    Dear Laurie,
I have met you 3 times. All at retreats and events from my past church. I’ve gone through your studies and have learned so very much. There was a time when God was really working on my marriage…BUT, he went back to his same ways and started treating me like dirt and that I didn’t mean anything to him anymore. My heart was broken. I have a serious lung disease and due to depression I let it get the best of me. I just wanted to stay in bed and due. My best friend got me through this really hard time. We started going out and having fun and I wanted to live life again. I started falling in love with her…emotionally. She was always there for me. She really cared. She enjoyed everything that I did. Her family and my family all went to the same church. Our relationship started to change. We felt intimacy now towards each other. Our husbands had pretty much forgotten about us and didn’t seem to care. Our relationship grew closer. I was in women’s minustry and knew I had to step down. One night I confided in my husband who took it straight to the church women’s leader. I was brought before the ministry and was told I could never see my best friend ever again. I had to reconcile with my husband. He now through everything over my head and was so mean to me. Worse then before…how could I go back to him. My best friend had been my best friends years before anything at all happened. We only had each other. Her kids call me auntie…in the only one they have . everyone wanted full separation but we couldnt…we had promised to new leave the other. We were banished from our church. It’s been 2 years later now. We are still BFF’s. There is no longer and kind of attract nene to each other just the same ol friendship we had in the beginning. Her husband has since passed away with cancer and I’m still in the middle of a very ugly divorce. She has got herself back into a church and is getting involved and I’m more then happy for her. me on the other hand am so hurt!!! Hurt that the people I loved and admired took my husbands side knowing how bad our relationship was luke I sinned the “WORST”…I lost all my friends, ministry and church family. Everyone turned on me. There was no grace at all. I’ve been hunting for churches but none feel right to me. I miss my old church but know I can’t go back. This has brought me to not going to church very often and filling dead inside. My joy used to always come from the Lord and He filled me…now I feel all alone 🙁 I have no one to talk to. I just saw your post and remembered how
Much I love you and your studies and the live you showed me when we talked. So I thought I could go to you…I need help!!! I love the Lord so much and I want to feel Him alive in me again!!! I feel like I’m spiraling out of control and I’m gonna lose it. Please help me any way you can. When will you be in Southern California again? I would love to sit down with you and talk. I don’t think you would judge me but love me like Jesus would…thank you for taking the time to read this.
    Love, Kimberly

Hi Laurie: It’s a bit of a gloomy day here in Maine, but the birds are singing and spring has finally sprung! I recently discovered your front porch series on YouTube and you have been such a blessing to me. I found your teaching on being married to a non-believer and it was just what I needed last week. I have been a believer since I was a young girl, but I have struggled my entire life to trust in the Lord. I had two earthly fathers that taught me I could not trust them and that mistrust translated in my heart and mind to my heavenly Father. The last two years have been a time of great struggle in my marriage, family, work, and friendships but through it all I finally came to a place of submission and brokenness that I had been avoiding with God for so long. He is teaching me day by day that I can trust Him and be whole only in His love and mercy and grace. Your blogs and videos are a blessing to me and I just wanted you to know that. Thank you. PS – My sunporch is my sanctuary:)

In times of trouble, prayer becomes a powerful word that provides solace and strength to individuals. Prayer is a deeply personal act of reaching out to a higher power for guidance, comfort, and support. It serves as a source of hope and reassurance during difficult times. When faced with adversity, many people turn to prayer as a means of finding inner peace and clarity amidst chaos. It is during these challenging moments that the power of prayer truly shines.

Prayer cards, often used as tangible reminders of one’s faith, can be particularly significant in times of trouble. These small cards contain prayers or religious verses that can be carried or placed in visible locations as a constant reminder of one’s connection to their spirituality. The act of holding or reading a prayer card can provide a sense of calm and reassurance during moments of distress. The words written on these cards serve as a beacon of hope, reminding individuals that they are not alone and that their struggles are understood and acknowledged by a higher power. Prayer cards can serve as a physical representation of one’s faith, providing comfort and strength in times of trouble.
