What’s Up With the Side Ponytail?

If you’ve ever seen me on Front Porch Friday, you’ve never seen this before: a side ponytail! And a symbolic side ponytail at that. I’ll tell you all about it (and my new Front Porch Friday video series) on today’s Front Porch Friday!

Ready to ask your question AND enter our giveaway? Just send your email to me to priority@priorityministries.com, OR click comment (below) to post it right here on the blog, OR click here and post your question to Facebook.   Can’t wait to hear from you!

Your sister who in no way has all of the answers but is soooo looking forward to your great questions,

Laurie, I love meeting with you here on Front Porch Fridays and your side ponytail looks great! What you said about friendship hits the spot for me. I’ve been struggling with that lately. Here’s my situation:

I have two friends of mine, they are sisters but they don’t get along. I can never hang out with the two of them together because when I do, there is always drama, arguments, someone ends up getting hurt or cries. Or when I talk to them during our one-on-one hang out time, they always put the other sister down and I am stuck and lost, not knowing what to say or do. I love them both but I feel like sometimes I can’t take it. One sister and I have known each other 16 years since middle school, but we are not close, just friends, but not best friends; the kind of friends that tell each other everything. I have known the other sister since 2003 and I feel closer to her.

The sister I have known for 16 years always says to her sister stop stealing my friends (this is what the sister I’ve known for less years tells me). I have talked to both of them and said that I am not stealing anyone’s friendships but I try to spend quality time with the each of them every week.

What should I do? What should I say? I feel trapped. It seems like whatever I do or say is wrong and someone either feels like I am spending more time with the other or that I don’t care for their friendship, when I actually do. I don’t want to feel like I am drowning and I don’t want to end friendships. I love friendships and I hold each of my friends very dear to my heart. I value friendship. When it comes to friendship, I hold onto this verse:

Colossians 3:12-14 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

I pray daily for my friendships with them and for them and constantly remind them that I love them and care for them. But I feel like I am a rope being pulled both ways. HELP me please!

    Thanks Laurie!

Sounds like you’ve got a VERY complex situation with your sister friends, Jackey. If only THEY would adopt and practice the Col. 3:12-14 passage wtih you. I want to pray about all of this, but if I answer it on Ask Laurie, you’ll see it in the coming weeks. In the meantime, may I say that YOU, dear sister, are one mature and godly friend. Love!

    Laurie,
I have two boys (11 and 9) and i know you raised sons, too…so my question is: What do you wish you had known in raising those boys that you now know? Is there anything you wish you would have done differently or anything you feel you did well? I would love some parently advice from a boy mama! 🙂 My boys are sweet gifts, but I know the tricky teen years are ahead…so along with MUCH prayer, I am seeking advice 🙂
    Thanks!
    Mariel

OK, Mariel, you have captured my heart with your Boy Mama question. I SO get you. Us Boy Mamas have a unique bond, huh? Look for the answer to your question on my upcoming Ask Laurie Front Porch Friday segment on Friday, June 15. And in the meantime, please email your mailing address to me (priority@priorityministries.com) so we can ship your “We Have a Latte in Common” CD set to you. Blessings and love to you and your sweet boys!

Well. I’m playing catchup after VBS but it was a GREAT last 4 weeks getting prepared & then the 4 nights of all the kids !!! WOW!
(I’ve saved the other post to read & catch up on shortly). So here I am on the Grey-headed Glo Girl part. Laurie I am absolutely LOVING where God’s got me right now, (even with my new wiggle/jiggles that seem to be coming on every where…I don’t care). I’m about getting the grankids & sharing ALL that I know with them about God’s GREAT creation & where we, as a people, fit into His plan. How much more fun can a girl ask for. And you know what….they don’t even care if i Jiggle as long as I’ll giggle with them. As for my questions…..1. I’d like to get a gaggle a girls here at my home for a bible study…are you up for coming & sharing one of your series? I don’t have a date in mind yet but I’ll try to go with your schedule. 2. haven’t read the side pony tail thing yet but I’m fixing to. Have a great day in our Lord & hope to hear back soon.
